Templates and policies

As a new service, you need to have certain policies, procedures and practices in place to comply with data protection legislation and regulatory requirements.

The size of your business might mean that you have one all-encompassing policy, whilst others might have multiple policies. The important thing is that you have them – and you follow them.

If you are an existing care provider, and you’re setting up or purchasing a new service – you need to consider what policies you need to amend or introduce to ensure those new services are covered.  Your policies and procedures need to reflect different business practices.

For example:

  • Does the new service use the same software as at other sites?
  • Is your new service in the same local authority as your other services?
  • Does the local authority have different requirements in this new area?
  • Is the new service providing a different type of care or supporting a different client group?

Digital Care Hub has a range of free templates to help you create the policies that you need to comply with data protection law. You can download and adapt these to work for your organisation.

See our New Care Services Checklist for the essential policies, contracts and procedures to have in place.
