As part of our mission to improve the safe use of digital technology in care services, Digital Social Care is calling on local councils, local care associations and informal groups of care providers to run a series of local digital projects focusing on finding practical solutions to some of the sector’s challenges.

We are working with the Local Government Association and the Department of Health and Social Care to support and fund these projects with one-to-one face-to-face advice and support from digital experts and the provision of 10-15 grants of between £25,000 and £50,000.

We would like the whole sector to help us. To get involved you can apply to lead a project in your local area.

  • Projects will run between 19th August 2019 and 31st March 2020
  • The focus of the projects will be your choice, ranging from introducing electronic signatures to increasing the use of secure email or the ways in which local councils can support care providers to access training and advice. (More examples can be found in the Application Guide)
  • Project leaders will be expected to recruit 10-12 local services to take part in their project
  • Alongside the projects, we would like the project groups to test and complete the Data Security Protection Toolkit with expert support to assist in completion
  • Each project leader will be given invaluable consultancy support and mentoring by one of an expert advisory team throughout their project
  • The first phase of applications is open now and will close at midnight on Friday 12th July
  • Applications will be measured against set criteria and detailed feedback provided to unsuccessful applications

If you would like to lead a project, read our simple Application Guide and then download and complete this Grant Application Form. The grant conditions can be read in the Grant Agreement.

Clarification responses published on 8th July can be read in our Grant Clarifications document.
